A brand new trailer for Disney’s highly anticipated film, ‘Maleficent’, debuted during ‘The Grammy Awards’ last night. What made this trailer such a great tie in to the highly regarded music industry awards was the soundtrack that accompanied the footage. While the film’s last teaser contained the usual type of music one would expect in a trailer, the haunting, dulcet tones of Lana Del Rey singing ‘Once Upon a Dream’ seemed very apropos here.
While most of the footage in this 90 second peek into the film have been seen before, there are some new snippets of Angelina Jolie doing a pretty impressive rendition of the evil (or is she really just misunderstood?) sorceress Maleficent. This is quite a different Disney fairy tale film that most are used to, but it is very clear that the casting of Jolie in the lead role was sheer genius – if only for her cheekbones alone!

Synopsis:
From Disney comes ‘Maleficent’—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic ‘Sleeping Beauty.’ A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.
‘Maleficent’ stars Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville and awakens in theaters on May 30th.
