Two weeks ago, a rumor surfaced stating that UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre would be joining the cast of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ as Georges Batroc AKA Batroc the Leaper. Earlier this week, the official press release went out not only saying that the film has started production, but also confirming this bit of casting news. Now, GSP has come out in the media to talk about his latest venture outside of the octagon.

Recently, St-Pierre sat down with SportsNet (via Comic Book Movie) to talk about some small things that he’s doing to prepare for his introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, he talks about his excitement to try out acting. Though he may not have the most experience, he certainly seems pretty eager to try it out. Check out what he has to say about his role in the video below:

Though he doesn’t go into much detail just yet, it’s still good to see his enthusiasm to be a part of the film. As I’ve said before, GSP is a pretty great match to play Batroc. They even have training in similar fighting styles. I’m looking forward to seeing this champ go toe to toe with Cap. Additionally, it’s pretty obvious that the Winter Soldier will be the main threat to Captain America in this next adventure, but it’ll be interesting to see how the other villains like Batroc the Leaper and Crossbones, who will be played by Frank Grillo, will factor into the whole thing.

What do you think about Georges St-Pierre playing Batroc the Leaper? Do you think that he’ll be a perfect fit? Share your thoughts in the comments.

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Emily VanCamp is scheduled to land in theaters on April 4, 2014.
