Marilyn Manson is going to be joining the cast of ABC’s ‘Once Upon A Time’. That is to say, his voice is going to be joining the cast. With the Peter Pan arc having fully kicked in, we’ve already seen ‘The Shadow’ (Peter Pan’s shadow to be specific) show up and soon we’ll be hearing a lot more of it this season. That being the case, it looks as if they have contacted shock rocker Marilyn Manson to portray the voice of The Shadow when it speaks. Creepy, right?

This news comes well ahead of the eighth episode where Manson’s will debut with his voice acting skills for the series. The episode is expected to air mid-November and while The Shadow itself has already appeared on the show (at the end of the second season) this will be the first time it starts taking an active speaking role.

The creators and executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz recently said that they wanted Manson specifically. Not only are they fans, but the way his voice can resonate really adds to the creepy vibe that they felt was required for the job. Specifically, “We’ve always been enormous fans of Marilyn Manson. We wanted to cast someone with the vocal ability to make our skin crawl.”

Well making your skin crawl is absolutely something Manson has had practice doing with his voice for quite some time now. Seems like a perfect fit could actually be a great long term bit of side work for him. I’d love to see him do horror. Until that time, him picking up children, primarily young boys, seems to be a strangely (and creepily) fitting piece of work.

What do you think about Manson voicing The Shadow? Is his voice the perfect casting fit or would have you preferred someone else in the role?
