Marvel is already in the thick of two crossover events. First there is ‘Infinity’ starring the Avengers who must not only grapple with their longtime foe, Thanos, who is leading an invasion force, but the devastating Builders who have already wiped out huge chunks of the galaxy. And then there is ‘Battle of the Atom’ which features the X-Men from three different eras in a tale that is promised to have greater impact down the line.
Now Marvel has released this teaser image simply depicting two one-word titles, ‘Trial’ and ‘Judgement.’ ‘Trial’ is by the creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen, the current team behind ‘All-New X-Men’. ‘Judgement’ is written by Bendis and drawn by Sara Pichelli, the team behind ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’
So will these creators be sticking with their current creations? Will the X-Men be going on ‘Trial’? Will the Guardians of the Galaxy, with their upcoming big-budget movie on the way, be in some way the subject of ‘Judgement’? Or will the Guardians, a group that could use a boost in their profile, be teaming up with one of Marvel’s flagship properties the X-Men?
It was hinted at recently that all the time travel that’s been going on lately in ‘Age of Ultron‘ and in ‘All-New X-Men’ would somehow come back to haunt the heroes of the Marvel Universe. Is this where that happens? Does some galactic counsel put the heroes on trial for damaging the fabric of reality with all their chronological distortion?
At any rate, we won’t know until New York Comic-Con next month. All will be revealed at the “Amazing X-Men & the Marvel Universe” panel on Friday, Oct. 11, at 11a.m.
