The Marvel Universe is like one very big, happy (and very dysfunctional) family. The tree includes the likes of the Richards family, the Maximoffs, the Banners, and even more, but when it comes to the cinematic universe, there is one very prominent family making big things happen. Of course, that’s the Whedons. Joss is the overlord of the entire film world that Marvel Studios has created, and for his return to the small screen with ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, he’s brought his brother Jed and sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen along for the ride.

With the premiere of the show that sees the return of Agent Phil Coulson premiering Tuesday, September 24, the whole cast and crew of the first television show to take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are making their rounds to promote it like crazy. Lorraine Cink of Marvel.com’s internet news show ‘The Watcher’ recently had the chance to talk to the three executive producers of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ to get the scoop on what fans can expect when they tune in on Tuesday night.

First, while speaking to the husband and wife duo of Tancharoen and Whedon, we learn about their first experiences as showrunners, which characters they relate to the most, and where the show lands in the cinematic universe’s timeline:

Then, the show’s creator and director of ‘The Avengers’ and ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ goes into the factors that lead to the show’s conception, how each team member fits in, and Coulson’s glorious return:

How stoked are you for the premiere of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? Have the Whedons’ comments gotten you more excited for everything? Are you able to contain your excitement for a few days more? Let’s hear what you have to say in the comment section!

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ starring Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Chloe Bennet, and Clark Gregg premieres on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 8:00pm on ABC.
