Cynthia Addai-Robinson joins her former ‘Spartacus’ love interest Manu Bennett (who plays Slade Wilson) this season on ‘Arrow,’ assuming the role of Amanda Waller.  The character was played by Angela Bassett in ‘Green Lantern,’ Pam Grier on ‘Smallville’ and CCH Pounder on ‘Justice League Unlimited.’

Waller is the head of A.R.G.U.S., a clandestine government agency who will surely cause problems for Oliver/The Hood.  In the comics, she also leads the sinister Suicide Squad, a program that promises convicted super villains their freedom… should they survive a series of suicide missions.  One team member, Deadshot (Michael Rowe) has also appeared on the series, with another Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White) on the way this season.

Addai-Robinson will debut in the sixth episode of the season.

The comic book character caused controversy in recent years.  When first introduced, she was depicted as being quite plus-sized.  While not the traditional comic book pin-up, she was embraced by many as being one of the only comic book characters who looked like an average person.  When the in-shape Grier played the role, she wore a padded outfit for extra weight.  She was still smaller than the comic version, but it was a nice effort.  However when ‘Green Lantern’ was released, apparently the comic book Waller went on a crash diet.

She’s retained this look in the New 52.  But I guess the new svelte Waller is the look from here on out, as Addai-Robinson also reflects this look.

But more than physical appearance, Waller is defined by her relentless hard nose attitude.  So do you think Addai-Robinson has the chops to portray “The Wall?”  Comment below!

Season 2 of ‘Arrow’ stars Stephen Amell  as Oliver Queen/’The Hood’, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, manu Bennett as Slade Wilson, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak and Colton Haynes as Roy Harper with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.  The premier is on October 9th on The CW.
