One of the most mysterious films in recent history is director Brad Bird and writer Damon Lindelof’s ‘Tomorrowland’. It all started with an old box that was eventually shown off to the public at this year’s D23 Expo. Then, there was the viral campaign The Optimist that was meant to immerse players of the game in the world of the film and prepare them for the world of tomorrow. Now, we finally know a little bit more about the plot as we have our fist official synopsis of the movie.
Earlier this month, production started on ‘Tomorrowland’ in Canada, but Disney has officially announced the project’s start with a new press release this week. For the most part, it contains information that we already know like the illustrious cast and crew involved in the film, but the new bit came in the form of this blurb about the plot:
Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as “Tomorrowland.”
‘Under The Dome’ star Britt Robertson will play the “optimistic teen” while George Clooney steps into the “former boy-genius” role. And while it doesn’t say here, Hugh Laurie is meant to be the film’s main antagonist.
With all this new information, it will be very interesting to see just how Disneyland will tie into the story. So far, the filmmakers have been pretty vague about that aspect of the movie, but they haven’t been shy about hinting that the park will be involved in some way.
