‘Tomorrowland’ is an upcoming science fiction film that will involve Disney though not too many details have come out quite yet. We know that it will star George Clooney and Hugh Laurie as 2 of the leads, but what else can we expect? Well for starters the female lead was just announced to be Britt Robertson whose work as a hostage in ‘Under the Dome‘ has been pretty convincing regardless of what you think of that particular book to TV translation. She has also starred in two CW series, ‘Life Unexpected’ and ‘The Secret Circle’.

It looks as if she beat out Naomi Scott (‘Terra Nova’) for the role of Casey Newton who will be a main player for the film’s storyline.

Her role is described as “a high school girl with an unconventional understanding of technology” that “is launched on a journey to reclaim her future.” This all happens by somehow talking Clooney’s character (who is a genius inventor) into helping her accomplish this. She’ll be supported by a backup cast that includes the likes of Raffey Cassidy (‘Snow White and the Huntsman’‘Dark Shadows’) who will be playing a young robot child in the film.

The film was written by Damon Lindelof (‘World War Z‘, ‘Star Trek Into Darkness‘, ‘Lost’) and directed by Brad Bird (‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’, ‘The Incredibles’, ‘The Iron Giant’). The combination of amazing writing, directing, and star power talent should clearly make this a blockbuster hit. While we still don’t have too much to go on for the film it’s not due in theaters until December 12th, 2014 so there is still plenty of time for an official synopsis and trailers to be released.

The rumored log line for the film goes as follows:

“A teenage girl, a genius middle-aged man (who was kicked out of Tomorrowland) and a pre-pubescent girl robot attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth.”

So it’s hard to tell if this is going to be a Disney film for kids, young adults, or the full age range. Honestly I don’t care as any movie that is going to star ‘House’ star Hugh Laurie as the villain is one that I want to see!
