We’ve always known that Marvel’s current movie agenda has been bold. From ‘Iron Man’, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger‘, and ‘Thor‘ culminating to form ‘The Avengers‘ and countless films in the works they’ve created a unified universe. We also know quite a bit of their release schedule through 2016 including films such as ‘Ant-Man‘, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘, and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘, but did you know that their vision is quite a bit grander? That they have films tentatively laid out that would take them through 2021?

That’s another 8 years of Marvel films that all fall into the same universe roughly planned out ahead of time. That can’t be right can it?

Well according to a recent interview with Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, he had this to say about their upcoming plans:

“I could arguably say what we’re planning for the year 2021. Will that happen? I don’t know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2016 is happening.”

Yes, 2021 is in fact the magic number given so far. Think they have enough from ‘The Avengers’ to make that happen? Probably, but they aren’t going to put all of their eggs in one basket! While Whedon worked magic with ‘The Avengers’ you have to remember that Kevin Feige has been the go between with all of the directors and comic writers for years helping to mold this singular vision into a reality. So what else do they have in mind?

“Five years ago, looking at our plan, we knew that if Avengers was going to work, the movies had to stand alone. Now we have to prove to the studio that we’re more than just these five characters, these five franchises.”

With phase 3 rumors giving us possible movies for Doctor Strange and The Black Panther (as well as I’m quite sure ‘The Avengers 3’), one has to ask what else is going to be in the pipeline? More ‘street smart’ heroes that would fit along the lines of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘? A new ‘Incredible Hulk’ movie? Will the success of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ give us an in for the likes of Captain Marvel, the Nova Corps, Warlock, Beta Ray Bill, and so many alien races?

With so many potential films in the pipeline we’ll have to wait to see what comes next. I, for one, am eager to see another 8 years (and beyond!) of successful Marvel films that all take place in the same world though.

How about you? Do you love what Marvel has done here or are you worried that the series would need a reboot sooner than that?
