Fresh off their outing at San Diego Comic-Con where the cast and crew were present to publically show the pilot for the first time, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ continues to introduce everyone else who wasn’t at the panel to Agent Phil Coulson’s new team. Previously, Marvel released two featurettes spotlighting Agents Leo Fitz, Jemma Simmons, and Grant Ward. Now, we get to meet another member of the group.

Played by actress Ming-Na Wen, Agent Melinda May has quite a reputation around S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. Known as an expert pilot master martial artist, Agent May still has an air of mystery about her. Thanks to IGN, you can check out this new video where we get to know her a little bit better:

2013 is turning out to be the year of ass-kicking Asians. With Rinko Kikuchi as Mako Mori in ‘Pacific Rim’, John Cho as Sulu in ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, and Rila Fukushima as Yukio in ‘The Wolverine’ (just to name a few), it’s great to see strong Asian characters in cinemas that aren’t just doctors or nerds. Agent May will be a great name to add to that list of role models once ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ premieres in the fall.

For more information on the show, here’s the synopsis:

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ starring Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Chloe Bennet, and Clark Gregg premieres on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 8:00pm on ABC.
