Earlier this week, in preparation for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Jeff Wadlow’s ‘Kick-Ass 2’ released four new TV spots to promote the film. Once it came time for Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl, and the whole gang to take the stage in Hall H for yesterday’s Universal panel where they tag teamed with ‘Riddick’, the director treated all in attendance with some epic goodies that show off what the sequel has to offer.

Up until this point, we’ve seen quite a bit of promotional videos for this upcoming film, but this might be the best thing that we’ve gotten yet. During the presentation, Wadlow, along with stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Grace Moretz (via satellite), premiered a new red-band trailer for ‘Kick-Ass 2’ that features our first looks at a bunch of previously unseen characters. You can check out the trailer below followed by a brief synopsis:

After Kick-Ass’ insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes, our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl can prevent their annihilation.

Unlike some previous TV spots and trailers, we really get a sense of who the bad guys are in the film besides The Mother F***er. The best part for me was seeing funnyman John Leguizamo for the first time in this movie. He’s in classic form and that just gets me more excited for the movie on whole.

What is your reaction to the new ‘Kick-Ass 2’ trailer? Are you excited for the sequel to the widely popular Mark Millar adaptation? Share your thoughts in the comments.

‘Kick-Ass 2’ starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Clark Duke, Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, and Jim Carrey hits theaters on August 16, 2013.
