If you’ve been following the news at all, you know that ABC has picked up Joss Whedon’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and did so rather quickly after seeing the pilot. This isn’t unexpected considering how well ‘The Avengers’ did. You also would have probably seen the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ trailer which looks amazing but might leave you with one burning question, how the hell is Agent Coulson (Clarke Gregg) alive? Well thanks to some recent news from EW, we’ve found out some information on that and a few other fun factoids.

Apparently Agent Coulson himself doesn’t know. In fact, the people who work with him stress that he must “never know the truth” about his death. So I’m not sure if that implies he doesn’t know he died or was resurrected. (This could put off rumors that Coulson never died in the first place.) It’s also not a clear cut answer we’re going to get right off the bat. Sorry fans, but Whedon is going to drag this out (probably for the entire first season) to make sure we’re all vested in finding the answers. I don’t know if I’m excited or frustrated about that news, but I have enough interest in the show that excitement will win out either way! Regardless of how long the wait is, I don’t expect we’ll see Coulson in another Marvel film until at the very least ‘The Avengers 2’. I can’t wait to see how they have the team deal with his return.

Also we’ve found out that the series is going to work with the films. Apparently the very first episode is going to be picking up one of the story lines from one of the Marvel films. They haven’t announced which film or story line just that it’s not from ‘The Avengers’. Also, they will apparently find a way to address the issue of not just calling the various members of The Avengers for any problem that comes up.

Next up is what to expect from Comic-Con. While knowing if J. August Richards plays Rage or not is a question many are wondering (which is ruomored to be answered in the pilot), the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ panel is willing to answer some other questions about the show. In fact it sounds like they may say who he is officially playing at Comic-Con. While they are clearly not going to give us a ton of spoilers, you will have to wonder what they are going to talk about for an hour and 15 minutes. After all, it can’t just be a huge Q&A with them saying “we can’t answer that.” My guess? Footage from the pilot or the pilot itself may be shown and it’ll conclude with one huge reveal at the very end. At the very least, they could show footage explaining who J. August Richards is playing instead of having us wait until the show airs. Again that’s my guess on the matter.

While the series won’t have the full look of a Marvel movie (not much can on TV) they do claim it’s going to look amazing. We do know that Clark Gregg has stated that the show has “incredible visual effects and stunts” that will make it completely unlike anything “seen on TV before.” It’s a rather bold claim but with Whedon in charge of things, it might be one I wouldn’t bet against.

When asked to comment on it Marvel’s head of TV development Jeph Loeb mentioned, “When fans see this pilot, they’ll be pretty astonished by what we pulled off and the challenge is to do it every week.”

I, for one, am probably too excited about this. I’ve been such a huge fan with how they have combined the Marvel Universe in these films that seeing the S.H.I.E.L.D. side of things (even without a ton of Easter eggs) has my mouth foaming in anticipation!

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will air Tuesdays on ABC at 8PM/ 7 C this Fall!
