July 19th marks what could be the next big deal when it comes to horror. There haven’t been too many stand out films this year so far in the genre (aside from Brad Pitt’s blockbuster ‘World War Z’ which is by far more an action movie than a horror film.)

The 70s produced some of the best horror films to date, so anytime I hear of a movie that is going to inhabit that time frame I am weary. I was a huge fan of Ti West’s ‘The House of the Devil’ which took place in the early 80s and am desperate for a movie to capture this feeling and be in the 70s.

Will ‘The Conjuring‘ be able to pull it off? It’s still too early to say but starring Lili Taylor (‘The Haunting ‘) and Ron Livingston (‘Office Space’) playing the Perron family who had just moved into a Rhode Island farmhouse could do it. What’s so special about this farmhouse? Well instead of Satanists as were used in ‘The House of the Devil’ we’re going to see a haunted house in this one. It also stars Vera Farmiga (‘Bates Motel’) and Patrick Wilson (‘Insidious‘) who are playing a married couple that just happen to be a pair of psychic investigators who are looking into the Perron household.

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

What I really want to know from the stills below is – what the hell is that doll going to be for? Dolls are probably the one that that can be as creepy as kids in horror movies. What do you think? Is this doll and the scenes above giving you the creeps? Is this going to be a summer horror film you want to see?
