Speculation has been running rampant ever since it was revealed that Hayley Atwell would be involved with the Star-Spangled Avenger once again. Many assumed that the only possible way that this could happen would be in flashbacks in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, but then talks of a Marvel One Shot short film emerged as well. However, there is another option that some may have thought of but didn’t consider too seriously.

Based on a new set of photos from Comic Book Movie, Chris Evans and the gang were shooting scenes at a residence doubling as a retirement home. Check out the description accompanying the pictures:

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been filming in Cleveland for weeks and on Wednesday afternoon came to a home at 2178 Harcourt Boulevard to film a short scene. According to media reports, the home is being converted into a nursing home where Cap, played by Chris Evans, is visiting with his fellow World War II veterans.”

And who is among those vets? Why, Steve Rogers’ old friend Peggy Carter of course! He may be a few decades late, but it looks like he made that date after all. Check out the behind the scenes shot of Atwell in costume below:

I wonder if it’s during this visit that Cap learns about Peggy’s niece, Sharon Carter, who is currently an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and played by Emily VanCamp in the film. In the comics, the Sentinel of Liberty and Agent 13 engage in a bit of a storied romance, so it wouldn’t be unheard of if that relationship made the jump to the big screen, despite recent pictures of Cap and Black Widow canoodling.

What do you think about Hayley Atwell’s new look as a present day Peggy Carter? Are you excited to see her returning in the sequel to ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’? Let us know what you’re thinking in the comments.

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Emily VanCamp hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
