Now that ‘Iron Man 3’ has kicked off the summer movie season in a big way, the next superhero offering comes from the DC side of the universe with ‘Man of Steel’. Though the last time Superman flew into theaters he didn’t fare so well, many fans are interested in this upcoming feature because of Christopher Nolan’s involvement. After his incredible work on his Dark Knight trilogy, it was revealed that he would be shifting his focus to the last son of Krypton as a producer who was responsible for getting the film through development. However, once production started, it’s said that the filmmaker took a more hands-off approach and handed the reins over to director Zack Snyder. Now, if you’re wondering just how much influence Nolan had on the finished product, the latest man behind the cape, Henry Cavill, has something to say about that.

In an interview with F*** Movie Magazine (via Screenrant), Cavill revealed that the film was entirely a product of Snyder’s while they were filming. The actor shared that there weren’t too many cooks in the kitchen when the ball got rolling and talked a bit about the process he went through with his director as opposed to his producer:

“Chris Nolan wasn’t there during the production itself, although I’m not sure how much work was done behind the scenes. I’m sure Zack had a phone call or two with him, but this is definitely Zack’s baby. He was the man in charge, and we created the character together, as opposed to having too many outside influences.

It’s a collaborative process and Zack wants us to talk to him about stuff and work with him on his ideas. If you say, ‘how about I do this,’ he’ll say ‘I don’t know if I like it yet, but give it a shot’.”

Though Nolan is seen as the champion for this new version of Superman, I’m glad that he gave his colleague the chance to make his mark on the character. For better or for worse, this is a Zack Snyder film, folks!
