Some movies have audiences stumped as to whether they should pay the extra money to see a film in 3D. After all, the 3D gimmick doesn’t work for every movie but studios put it out there to bump up the box office numbers. But Paramount thinks it’s worth seeing ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ in all its 3D glory and has released this latest trailer for the film to convince movie goers.
The trailer is actually part of a viral marketing stunt, ‘Are You The 1701?,’ which had fans tweet the hashtag #1701. 1701 fans then were selected to win a prize package that included a poster from the film, a pair of old school 3 glasses and an URL for this special 3D trailer.
While this is far from the actual 3D experience you would have in the theaters, it is pretty cool to be able to watch the trailer at home and get a taste of what to expect. Even if you don’t have glasses, the trailer is still pretty nifty to watch in all its blurry glory.
So while many may not have won the prize package, we do have that trailer for you to see, so take out your 3D glasses and hit the play button below.
