Recent we found out that Mike Mignola would love to see a ‘Hellboy 3‘, so of course that gets everyone wondering – might we see one? Well, if Ron Perlman has anything to say in the matter, he wants Guillermo Del Toro to take a break from his upcoming super jam packed film schedule and give the fans what they want. (What do we want? Hellboy 3! When do we want it? Now!)

In an interview with IGN, Pearlman stated how he felt that the director owed the world a ‘Hellboy 3’:

[Del Toro and I] both walked away from Hellboy 2 agreeing that there would never be another one,” he says. “But, with the passage of time, it became clear to me that he really always designed it as a trilogy. [Guillermo] has a very well-articulated idea of what the resolve would look like and it’s amazingly theatrical and is epic in scope and would make for amazing cinema, with or without the first two movies … I said [to Guillermo], ‘You owe it to the world to finish this trilogy. I’ve been giving him Jewish guilt.

The problem with a third film is that Del Toro needs a large budget to bring his vision for the finale to the big screen. While the ‘Hellboy’ films have done well, neither one has brought in enough money to make the gamble on a third film a reality so far. What might give us a chance is if ‘Pacific Rim’ ends up being a blockbuster. It then might allow Del Toro to get a pass from the studio to do whatever he wants for a movie. All we can do is hope he wants ‘Hellboy’.

While another bout with one of my favorite characters of all time still seems unlikely, I won’t give up hope. When fans, the lead actor, the original author, and the director all want to wrap up the trilogy, we can have hope they find a way to make it happen.

I’m not quite sure what it’ll take to talk the studio into coughing up the dough for us to see ,Hellboy, save the world one last time, but if it doesn’t happen, we’re all going to end up dead to a demonic or Cthulhuesque end of the world scenario. Let’s hope they find some funding to make sure that doesn’t happen! With the current ‘Hellboy in Hell’ story line and what lead up to it in the comics, there is plenty of material to go off of by having ‘Hellboy’ fulfill (or break) the prophecy that has him bringing about the destruction of the Earth. Depending how they play it out on the big screen, he could, in fact, even do both.

Would you be up for seeing a final ‘Hellboy’ movie that tied everything up?
