After months of teasing images and posters, the first trailer for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ has finally debuted!

The trailer, which was introduced by Liam Hemsworth who plays Gale Hawthorne, debuted during the MTV Awards last night and picks up after the win of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).  The Capital’s President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is none too happy with the result of the last games and conspires with new gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) to “eliminate” Katniss who they feel is a threat to their way of life.

While the news of Gary Ross stepping down from directing the sequel to ‘The Hunger Games’ was surprising, to say the least, from the looks of the trailer, Francis Lawrence seems to have done an excellent job picking up the reins to bringing Michael Arndt’s screenplay to life.

Check out the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ after the official synopsis below and let us know what you think:

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ will be in theaters November 22, 2013.
