In about a week, television viewers will soon learn of the true nature as to why Norman Bates went psycho in A&E’s new scripted series ‘Bates Motel.’ In anticipation of the series’ premiere, the network has released the first six minutes of the show’ pilot episode for all to see.

‘Bates Motel’ is a contemporary prequel/origin story of how the relationship between a teenage Norman Bates and his mother, Vera Bates, produced the most infamous serial killer in cinematic history. The video below sets up the entire series explaining how Norman and Vera came to buy the Bates Motes after the mysterious and bloody death of his father. The footage is innocent enough with no foretelling of the horrors and creepiness that is to come… that is until you see Normal starring through his mother’s bedroom window as she passes by it in her undergarments. We knew they were close, but how close could the two really be?

Check out the first 6 minutes below and let us know what you think of the series.

More mysteries unfold when ‘Bates Motel’ premieres on Sunday, March 18 at 10PM on A&E.

Created by ‘Lost’s’ Carlton Cuse, ‘Bates Motel’ stars Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates, Vera Farmiga as Norma Bates, Max Thierot, Olivia Cooke, Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel.
