Ever since the first look at ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ in Entertainment Weekly back in January, we haven’t heard much about the follow-up to Gary Ross’ adaptation of the first book in Suzanne Collins’s acclaimed young adult series. Now, promotion for the film from director Francis Lawrence featuring an all-star cast including returning leads Josh Hutcherson and recent Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence is underway yet again and is focusing on the fashion of Panem.
Earlier this week, a website called Capitol Couture began posting portraits of various characters from ‘Catching Fire’. It started with Elizabeth Banks’ Effie Trinket, followed by Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci), Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), and Cinna (Lenny Kravitz). /Film collected those posters together, but MSN and Moviefone later revealed the ones featuring Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Johanna Mason (Jena Malone), respectively. Finally, on the Capitol Couture Instagram, you can find the portrait of Beetee, played by Jeffrey Wright. You can see all the available portraits in the gallery below:
According to the Capitol Couture Tumblr, a new portrait will be revealed before the end of the day. To stay up to date on the latest posters released, be sure to follow Capitol Couture on Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram.
It’s surprising that they’ve released Katniss’ portrait already. I thought that they’d build up to her’s, Peeta Mellark’s, and Finnick Odair’s portraits, but one of the main attractions has been unveiled already. It’s possible that we’ll end up seeing a portrait for nearly all the main characters, or at least the ones that will appear in the Capitol at some point in the film, like Donald Sutherland as President Snow or Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee.
What do you think of these Capitol Portraits? Out of those released thus far, who’s your favorite? Who’s unreleased portrait are you looking forward to seeing in the future? Share your thoughts in the comments below, after you check out the synopsis for the film:
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ opens in theaters on November 22, 2013.
