Yesterday, we got our first official look at the brand new suit that Peter Parker will be sporting in Marc Webb’s upcoming film ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. But not even a few hours after that image was released, tons of photos from the set in New York featuring the new suit hit the web.
Sites from every corner of the internet are sharing these recently released set shots. /Film has a great collection of these pictures, but Comic Book Movie also has some that weren’t included in that set. For your convenience, I’ve collected most of them in a handy dandy gallery for you right here. Among the photos are shots of stuntmen wearing the Spider-Man suit, Andrew Garfield wearing the Spider-Man suit, and a brief appearance by Mary Jane Watson herself, Shailene Woodley. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
First things first: I’m pretty surprised that it took them this long to get some photos from the set. Marc Webb and company has been filming in New York City since the 12th, so I had expected to see some Spidey shots sooner than this. Better late than never though! Secondly, I still don’t buy Woodley as Mary Jane. It’s almost unfair to judge by these pictures, but I said it when she was first cast, and I’m sticking with it until she proves otherwise when the film is released. Not to say that she’s not a beautiful girl, but judging by her work and her look, she just doesn’t scream MJ at all. Of course, I could be wrong, like I was with Heath Ledger as the Joker and Chris Evans as Captain America, but I could be right too. Time will tell on that one.
