The last time Oncers saw Jefferson, aka the Mad Hatter, he had reunited with his daughter Grace in the episode ‘We are Both’. Now it looks like we’ll be seeing the popular fairy tale character in his own spin-off series as ABC is contemplating developing a show around the popular ‘Alice in Wonderland’ character.

How this would be achieved is unknown at the moment. ABC is thinking about filming a short presentation starring the character with a 13 episode order. Another idea was to bring the Mad Hatter back for another episode on ‘Once Upon a Time’ and if the character still proves to be as popular as he has been in the past, this episode would serve as a backdoor pilot for the series. Either way, the creators and executive producers of ‘Once Upon a Time, Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, will be on board and serve as showrunners for both series should the Mad Hatter spin-off be green lit.

There is one drawback, however, and that is the actor who has played Jefferson in the 6 times he’s appeared on the show is unavailable to reprise the role if it goes into a series. Sebastian Stan will soon be gearing up to play Bucky Barnes in the upcoming Marvel pic ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ which is slated to start to filming next month. That means the next time we see the Mad Hatter, he’ll be portrayed by someone new.

So what do you think Oncers? Is the world ready for a Mad Hatter spin off and who could you see playing the role? As for me, I’m waiting until ABC announces a spinoff starring Captain Hook…
