There’s been a lot of talk about ‘Man of Steel,’ mostly about some of the creative liberties director Zack Snyder has made with regards to the Superman canon. Most recently was the question as to whether Jimmy Olsen went through a gender change in the new film to become Jenny. Another, while not as controversial, is the straying away from Lois Lane’s brunette locks to the more ginger look as played by Amy Adams. Today, we finally have the first official image of the actress as the inquisitive reporter.

Not quite sure why the image is in black and white but considering that Lois has an iPad (yes, a very obvious product placement) in her hands, it’s obvious that this film will be a very contemporary retelling of the Superman mythos.

Not much has really been revealed about her character (or even the movie in general), but in an interview with Empire Magazine, Snyder states that he doesn’t want to say too much about Lois’ relationship with Clark Kent/Superman because it would give “a bit of the DNA of the movie away. “ He goes on to comment, “Suffice to say, whether it is Superman or Kal-El or Clark Kent, we wanted to make him cooler. You’ll have to wait and see the why of it. [Amy Adams] is everything you would hope for from Lois Lane.”

Henry Cavill who plays the superhero and his alter ego was also tight-lipped about Adams’ character only saying, “I can’t talk about that too much. I don’t want to be giving away the idea of the film too early, but Amy is a great actress, very professional, a pleasure to work with…”

So while we don’t know too much about Lois’ part in the film’s plot (but from the reticence seen so far, she plays an important part in the plot beyond the investigative reporting love interest), at least you can see what she looks like in the photo below!

‘Man of Steel’ is shaping up to be an exciting film, don’t you agree?

Directed by Zack Snyder, ‘Man of Steel’ opens in theaters on June 14th and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Russell Crowe, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer and Christopher Meloni.
