The production of Joss Whedon’s pilot for Marvel’s ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ has officially begun this earlier this week and already the updates from set are pouring onto the internet. There’s nothing Earth-shattering like the announcement from New York Comic Con that Agent Phil Coulson is starring in the show or the revelation from ABC President Paul Lee last week that the show isn’t a prequel, but it’s still cool to see what’s going on at the set.

The first batch of pictures comes from Entertainment Weekly, who found them on co-writer Maurissa Tancharoen’s Twitter. The first picture is of Joss in between takes, followed by a S.H.IE.L.D. vehicle and co-writer Jed Whedon’s chair. Check all three pictures out below:

The next picture comes from the official ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Facebook page, also courtesy of Ms. Tancharoen. That page offers a bunch of different bits of coverage and news on the show. Additionally, the show opened an official Twitter as well. You can follow them @ABC_SHIELD.

Finally, Marvel.com’s Agent M aka Executive Editorial Director for Marvel Digital Media Group Ryan Penagos has been on set wandering around and offering updates of what’s going on. Here’s his first video informing us that he’ll be sharing bits and pieces of what’s going on when he can:

Penagos has also been tweeting and instagramming a bunch of stuff while he’s on set. Here’s a sampling:

“I’ve had situations that have been borderline weird.” – overhead on the set of @Marvel‘s #SHIELD

Things are on fire. So much fire. So much smoke. #SHIELD

Chatted a bit with @JoeQuesada, @Marvel‘s Chief Creative Officer, who’s also on the #SHIELD set.

In addition to constantly checking ScienceFiction.com, be sure to follow Ryan Penagos on Twitter @AgentM to see the action as it happens.

It may not be much, but it’s something to actually get excited about. Joss Whedon’s live action Marvel TV show for ABC is finally up and running. Are you excited? Will you following all of the show’s social media sites just to get a glimpse of something good? Let us know in the comments below!
