Warner Bros. has unveiled a new featurette for their upcoming supernatural teen romance film ‘Beautiful Creatures.’

The movie is based on the book series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and from the looks of the footage already released in the trailers and TV spots, Warner Bros. may just have found their newest franchise.

‘Beautiful Creatures’ takes place in the South and tells the tale of two “star-crossed” teen lovers (which seems to be a reoccurring theme in these types of films – see ‘The Host’). Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich) is the boy who longs to escape the small town of Gatlin that is, until he meets Lena (Alice Englert), a mysterious girl who just also happens to be a Caster, that is, a person who has the ability to cast magic. Together they uncover “dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town.”

While rather short, the featurette not only has new footage from the film but also stars Emma Thompson, Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum and director Richard LaGravenese who talk about the movie and what movie goers can expect from it.

Considering that the film will be released on Valentine’s Day, it does look like a pretty good film to take your date. While the A-list names in the cast is no indication that the film will be worth watching (‘Dark Shadows’ comes to mind), the special effects and story seen so far, makes me believe this film is worth spending the money to see in theaters.

Take a look at the featurette below and see for yourself and let us know if you’re ready to invest some time in the supernatural world of ‘Beautiful Creatures.’

“Beautiful Creatures’ will open in theaters on February 14, 2013.
