One of the most fascinating movies to be released this month has to be Rian Johnson’s ‘Looper‘. So it comes as a surprise that the promotion has been a bit low key considering the film is due to be in theaters next week. But thanks to Yahoo! Movies and Metacafe, we now have 2 new clips and a featurette to entertain you with!
‘Looper’ received a very enthusiastic response from critics and movie goers alike when it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month. The upcoming sci-fi time travel flick has Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing a Looper named Joe, a hired gun whose job is to kill for the mob. In the future, when the mob decides they want to get rid of someone, they send them back in time 30 years in the past to where Joe is waiting to kill them. Things get complicated when Joe is assigned to kill his future self, played by Bruce Willis.
All three videos below focuses on what it is to be a Looper. The featurette contains interviews with director Johnson as well as the stars of the film, Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt and gives a great background as to what being a Looper entails and why anyone would want that job. The clips following the featurette are from the early part of the movie with the first showing young Joe being hired by Jeff Daniels and the second clip showing the first time Joe realizes his next kill is his future self.
It’s a bit eerie to see Gordon-Levitt’s resemblance to Willis in the film. Granted, prosthetics were used to obtain the effect but from the footage below, it can clearly be seen that the make-up department did a great job.
Check out the videos below to see the resemblance yourself!
‘Looper’ stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels and Paul Dano and hits theaters on September 28th.
