Two weeks ago, photos were released of the sets being erected in the Bourne Woods in preparation for shooting for Alan Taylor’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’. At the time, it was unclear what this village was meant to be used for, but now we have a slightly better idea.

According to Comic Book Movie, this village is the scene of a battle involving Asgardian warriors. Here’s what the report has to say about this scuffle:

“The sequence that’s being filmed involves an battle between Asgardian warriors and an army race known as Marauders. And although scheduled to be filmed on at later date, Thor himself is expected to make a grand entrance into the battle. Reportedly featuring almost 300 extras, the shoot will last 10 days.”

Don’t confuse yourself by thinking that these Marauders is the team lead by Mister Sinister that included the likes of Sabretooth, Gambit, and Mystique. I highly doubt that we’ll see those kinds of mutants here. I also doubt that this will be the only epic battle in this upcoming adventure for the Asgardian Avenger, seeing as he’ll also have to deal with the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, lead by Christopher Eccleston’s Malekith the Accursed.

‘Thor: The Dark World’, starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Kat Dennings, and Anthony Hopkins, is scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2013.
