Hot on the tail of the news that Kat Dennings would be reprising her role as Darcy Lewis in Alan Taylor’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’ comes the news that a new villain has been added to the cast. According to Comic Book Resources, ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’, ‘The Thing’, and ‘Lost’ actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be joining the cast as another villain.

The bad guy scene in the follow up to the 2011 Thunderer film already has Tom Hiddleston returning to the horned helmet of Loki and newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed, the leader of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, but we can’t have the Dark Elf leader without any Dark Elves to lead, can we?

Enter Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who will play Algrim the Strong, who is the most powerful of all the Dark Elves. Malekith turns his back on Algrim for losing to the mighty Thor. Due to the extensive injuries, including memory loss, Algrim is healed and transformed into a more powerful entity called Kurse, who will also be played by the ‘Lost’ alum. Now twice as strong as the Asgardian Avenger, Thor will certainly have his hands full when he takes on Kurse for round two.

‘Thor: The Dark World’, starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and Anthony Hopkins, is scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2013.
