There are only two issues left in this year’s huge Marvel crossover event, ‘Avengers Vs. X-Men’, and the tides seem to be finally turning. While Spider-Man was in the spotlight in issue #9, Hope Summers takes center stage in this issue. For a long time now, we’ve been hearing big things about Hope and we’ve been seeing her training under a number of different teachers and now’s the time that we finally get to see her in action. She’s not just running or hiding behind other heroes saying, “But this is my fight!” She finally gets in there and goes toe to toe with a Phoenix-enhanced Cyclops, and knocks him out of this world! Some great moments come out of that battle, including some mythical creatures, which is almost always a good time.

The battle pitting the Avengers versus Cyclops is all well and good, but I’m more interested in the stuff going on in Utopia with Emma Frost, Magneto, and the other X-Men. Brubaker’s script offers a nice about face for Magneto. Whereas in the past he was all for ruling over mutants and humans alike, he’s now trying to show Emma the error of her ways and that the Phoenix is taking over. Of course, things aren’t quite going the way that the Master of Magnetism hopes, and he’s going to need more help in Utopia if the threat of Phoenix Emma Frost is to be quelled. An uprising is coming, people, and I can’t wait to see it.

It may have not been the best issue thus far, it was good. This issue really feels like things are coming to an end. There’s a lot that’s going to have to be wrapped up in the next two issues, so I’m hoping that Marvel doesn’t disappoint, especially since their biggest guns both on the page and creating the page are involved in this thing. There are some good cards that have yet to be played, so hopefully when they are, they don’t fall short. It’s unfortunate that we now have to wait four weeks till the next move can be made.
