There’s lots of exciting news coming out of Comic-Con today! Evil Ink Comics have announced that producers Stephen Levinson and Mark Wahlberg (‘Boardwalk Empire,’ ‘Entourage’ ‘In Treatment’) have acquired the rights to the graphic novel ‘The Amory Wars’  in order to develop it into a live action feature.

Claudio Sanchez, who also happens to be the lead singer of the progressive rock group Coheed and Cambia, created ‘The Amory Wars’ to serve as an inspiration for the group’s album. Each album the band releases corresponds to a series of comics. In essence, ‘The Amory Wars’ comes with a soundtrack by Coheed and Cambia! Later, he expanded the mythology to include comic book and graphic novels.

‘The Amory Wars’ is an epic fantasy set in a futuristic alternate universe called Heaven’s Fence. On the surface, it chronicles the struggle against superhuman dictator Wilhelm Ryan (aka Archmage) and the family that holds the key to liberating the world from his tyrannical reign. But as you delve deeper into the novels, the story gets really interesting. The novel also is about Coheed Kilgannon who is told by those in charge of Heaven’s Fence that everything he knows about his life is not true and that his memories were implanted. At some point, he was infected by a virus known as the Monstar and has unknowingly passed on a more violent form of it to his kids called the Sinstar.  When unleashed, the Sinstar will wreak havoc on Heaven’s Fence. Combine this with the struggle against the evil Wilhelm Ryan and you get an epic sci-fi film!

Further details about this deal has not been released.

So what do you think of the newest graphic novel to get the big screen treatment?
