According to Collider, Shawn Levy, the man who helmed such films as ‘Real Steel’, ‘Date Night’, ‘Big Fat Liar’, and more, has roughly twenty-something projects at different stages of development. Now, it seems that he’s adding ‘Monster Problems’ from Brian Duffield to that list.
Via his 21 Laps banner, Levy is looking to produce this movie that’s being described as “a John Hughes take on a Mad Max story” or “a post-apocalyptic road movie with a love story at its heart.” Other than that, details on the script are scarce at the moment. To me, it sounds like ‘Zombieland’ minus the zombies, but there’s some potential in a story like that.
Until things are finalized with ‘Monster Problems’, Levy is preparing to shoot his next movie, ‘The Internship’, which reunites the ‘Wedding Crashers’ duo of Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. In addition to that, he has ‘Night at the Museum 3’, ‘Cannonball Run’, ‘The Fight Before Christmas’, ‘Man Made’, and more in the works.
Duffield also has a few things coming up, but not as much as Levy. After landing on the Black List with his script ‘Jane Got A Gun’, that script was picked up with Natalie Portman attached to star and produce. Also, his romantic comedy ‘You’re Bridesmaid’s A Bitch’ is in the works with ‘Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil’ director Eli Craig.
