With the unexpected news that Josh Brolin would be playing Cable in ‘Deadpool 2‘, the character’s creator Robert Liefeld has sketched how he thinks the actor might look as the part. While a slew of names had popped up for the actor who could play the character ranging from Brad Pitt to Michael Shannon, Brolin won out and this fan art from the creator should bring a smile to your face. Especially as the artist only focused on the head and didn’t do a full body that included his feet.
Long term readers of Liefeld’s work should understand why that matters.
Let’s take a quick look at what Liefeld put together:
It very much does feel like both Brolin and Cable here. However, that feels like there is a bit too much of a smirk which seems out of place for the character. Especially as he is just being introduced and usually isn’t the most jovial of people, even around his best friend Wade Wilson.
As ‘Deadpool 2’ and the rest of Fox’s mutant properties aren’t part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, there won’t be any concern for people being confused as to why the actor is also portraying Thanos. Of course, it wouldn’t surprise me if Ryan Reynolds cracks a meta-joke about it while in character as the Merc with the Mouth.
