The new animated series set in the world of Tron doesn’t officially premiere until June, but if you can’t wait to catch it on Disney XD next month, the first episode of ‘Tron: Uprising’ is on YouTube. Titled ‘Beck’s Beginning’, this pilot/prequel episode bridges the gap between the original ‘Tron’ movie.
After watching the episode, I was reminded of that show ‘Reboot’ from back in the day, which was also set in a digital world. I enjoyed the animation of the show, and the action was pretty good too. Hopefully, the quality of the series as a whole will be on the same level as this pilot.
Check out the whole thing in its entirety below:
And just in case you still want more info on the show before checking it out, here’s a complete synopsis:
“Beck is a young mechanic living in Argon City, a growing metropolis in a far off corner of the grid that has just been occupied by General Tesler, a henchman of the notorious Clu. After his best friend Bodhi is ruthlessly derezzed by Clu’s army, Beck seeks justice for his lost friend and launches a crusade against the regime. His rebellion captures the attention of Tron, the greatest warrior The Grid has ever known, who sees the potential in Beck and trains him to be his successor. Labeled with the moniker of The Renegade, Beck sparks a revolution to fight for the freedom of The Grid.”
‘Tron: Uprising’ features the voices of Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Paul Reubens, and the original Tron, Bruce Boxleitner. While the star-studded show’s premiere date is June 7th on Disney’s boy-centric network, ‘Beck’s Beginning’ can be seen on the regular Disney Channel on May 18th, with an encore presentation on Disney XD on May 21st.
