Finally, after years of talking about it, Robert Rodriguez is actually starting production on the follow up to the 2005 graphic novel adaptation ‘Sin City’.  I know what you’re thinking. This could be just more chatter about Rodriguez wanting to do it eventually. Well guess what! There’s a press release officially announcing the commencement of production and everything this time.

Thanks to Deadline, we see that the film will be titled ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ and it will be directed by both Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez. While it doesn’t reveal anything about the plot, it does say that casting will begin next week and that many of the original cast is set to return. Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

‘Sin City’ creator, screenwriter, and co-director Frank Miller has this to say about the highly anticipated sequel:

“The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.“

As for the man who’s been talking nonstop about this project for about seven years now, Robert Rodriguez has this to say:

“I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. ‘A Dame To Kill For’ will certainly be worth the wait.”
