With a lot of attention on the upcoming super film ‘The Avengers,’ the film that may be labeled as the sci-fi sleeper of the year may just be the movie ‘Lock Out.’

Just as Disney did with ‘John Carter,’ EuropaCorp has released the first 5 minutes of the film that stars Guy Pearce as the wise cracking, action packing, reluctant hero named Snow, a man who has been wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the US. Snow is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter and get her out of an outer space prison that has been taken over by violent inmates.

Although the premise may sound like ‘Escape From L.A. ‘ in outer space, this relatively low budget film brings on the entertainment and action without having to showcase a lot of CGI in the process. As this is the international version of the 5 minute clip, French subtitles have been added but the clip itself is all in English. The first couple minutes is the same as in the international trailer but afterward that, we get to see what gets Snow in hot water with the government in the first place.

To continue with the media onslaught (after all, the movie will be released next week) is a new TV spot and a clip which shows Snow after rescuing the president’s daughter (did we really have any doubt this would happen?) and is now trying to find a way off the space prison. Watch until the very end of the clip as the delivery and the writing in this scene is just a small example why I find this movie worth seeing.

Let me know what you think of all the videos and if you consider ‘Lock Out’ is worth your money!
