Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum offered lead roles in 'Jupiter Ascending'

It’s been awhile since we’ve reported on ‘Jupiter Acending,’ the next exciting project the Wachowski siblings will be working on. In January it was reported that they were “wooing” Natalie Portman for the lead female role but it looks like that might have fallen through as it is now being reported that Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum have been offered the leads to the film.

The plot of the movie is being kept under wraps but just like their other big sci-fi franchise, ‘The Matrix,’ this film is one that they created and is on track to start production later in the year. Warner Bros. has moved on with Portman’s unavailability (she signed on to star in the movies ‘Lawless’ and ‘Knight of Cups’ filming this year) and have decided to offer the lead female role to her ‘Black Swan’ co-star Kunis.  As for Tatum, he’s coming off of two movies that have earned a bit of money for the studios. Tatum is becoming the leading man able to bring people to see a movie so I can see why the role was offered to him.

Hopefully we’ll learn more about the film and what these roles entail when production starts. Who knows? Maybe ‘Jupiter Ascending’ will do for Tatum what ‘The Matrix’ did for Keanu Reeves? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
