The new Hobgoblin from the upgraded ride

Every time I go to the Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando, my favorite spot to visit is Marvel Superhero Island. And if you’re a regular reader of my posts here on ScienceFiction.com, my favorite ride should come as no surprise… ‘The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man’. The ride combines a multi-rider cart vehicle on tracks that goes through a world combining practical and 3D effects to make it feel like you’re swinging along with Spider-Man and facing off with his most notorious foes. It’s an awesome trip and one that I’d recommend taking again and again… and it looks like it’s about to get better!

Earlier today, Universal Orlando posted a new video on their YouTube channel to advertise that some overall improvements to the Spider-Man ride have just been completed. According to the notice on the video:

The attraction reopened today, March 8, with all-new 4K digital high-definition animation, a new highly-sophisticated Infitec 3-D projection system, a new music score and new high-tech 3-D glasses so that you can experience the improvements the way the attraction’s creators envisioned. The attraction’s sets, audio system and lighting have also been upgraded.

Check out the video:

I can’t wait to get back into Orlando and get on this bad boy! It looks like the story told in the ride hasn’t changed much but the graphics have definitely been given an overhaul. And if the 3D has been tweaked to use something on par with what’s in movie theaters, it’s sure to be a blast!

The next time you visit Universal Orlando, be sure to check out the Spider-Man ride. And if I’m not already there, tell Spidey I said hello.
