It’s a Marvel vs DC war over the iTunes top spot for trailers. The first trailer for Joss Whedon’s upcoming ‘The Avengers’ garnered just over 10 million downloads on iTunes in its first 24 hours of release. Then that record was smashed by the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ with 12.5 million downloads.
Now, the latest trailer for ‘The Avengers’, has knocked the ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ down to the second place spot. The trailer, which has been setting the internet ablaze with excitement pulled in 13.7 million downloads in its first 24 hours on the iTunes service.
No doubt, DC will not take this coup sitting down and I’m sure Nolan will tease Bat-fans with the next ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ spot and take the top spot back. And with so many comic book films heading down the pike, it’ll probably go back and forth for the foreseeable future. But no matter who comes out on top… Marvel or DC… comic and movie fans are the winners so long as the movies keep being awesome.
