The trailer for ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ just came out and now there are rumors that a 6th ‘Resident Evil’ movie may be in the works.

‘Resident Evil’ has been one of the lucky franchises that has not lost any money for the studios. Since its first film in 2002, each sequel seems to have done well earning money and prompting the studio to film another installment. This time, however, according to director Paul W.S. Anderson, there was actually talk about filming ‘Resident Evil 5 and 6’ back to back before it was decided to just focus on ‘Retribution.’

In an interview with Bloody-Disgusting, Anderson had told them that that he already has the storyline in mind for the 6th film. He sees the next installment as an end to a second trilogy that started with ‘Afterlife’ and bringing a finish to Alice’s story:

“… if we made another one I do know where it would go. And obviously it would be great to do two full trilogies and just bring everything to an end.”

When asked outright if the next film would be a finale, Anderson responded:

“Yes. Definitely. Unless of course no one goes to see this one”.

It’s very doubtful that no one will see ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ so it’s safe to say that we can expect one more final film chronicling Alice and her friends. After that, who knows? There has been talk about filming a prequel to the movies afterwards. Are you ready to see Alice’s story end and see how everything began?
