Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene the vampire Death Dealer in ‘Underworld: Awakening,’ 3 years after the release of her last ‘Underworld’ film. The movie, however, takes place 12 years later and it looks like humans are now involved in the war between the Lycans and the Vampires.
‘Underworld: Awakening’ looks like it’s more of the same with Beckinsale kicking booty and taking names. Last month the theatrical trailer was released and now we have the TV commercial for the movie. The TV version does have some new footage not included in the theatrical trailer so it’s worth a look.
If you’re not familiar with the premise, Selene awakens from a 12 year coma and escapes imprisonment only to find that they have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans. The humans are determined to eradicate both sects. The only hope for peace is Selene’s 14 year old half breed daughter. It’s up to Selene to protect her daughter from all sides who would like nothing more than to kill the girl and extend the war until no one is left standing.
‘Underworld: Awakening’ stars Kate Beckinsale, Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley and Charles Dance and will be released on January 20, 2012.
