Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be room for another Snow White, out comes the theatrical trailer for ‘Snow White: A Deadly Summer.’
Granted it seems like we’re surrounded by Snow with ‘Once Upon a Time’, ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ and ‘Mirror, Mirror’ but this version is different in that it’s a horror version of the fairy tale. Here’s the official synopsis as reported by ShockTillYouDrop:
“A modern retelling of a timeless tale. Snow is abducted at the order of her wicked stepmother and taken to an isolated wooded discipline camp, run by a ruthless hunter. When each of her fellow seven campers begin dying off one by one, Snow must uncover the dark and twisted secret of the forest before she becomes the next victim.”
Maureen McCormick (yes, THE Marcia Brady) stars as the wicked stepmother while Eric Roberts (‘The Dark Knight’, ‘The Expendables’) is the passive father to the beautiful Snow played by Shanley Caswell (‘Detention’).
Frankly, I find it a bit disconcerting when a trailer is released with no theatrical release date attached to it. Even the artwork for the movie doesn’t even have a “Coming Soon” tag. Worse yet, try to find any information about the movie on IMDB and there is none. The actors don’t even have it listed on their pages! Wonder why? Just watch the trailer and you’ll see. Luckily we won’t have to see this one in theaters as it appears to be going straight to DVD.
