During MTV’s Video Music Awards, the audience was treated to a sneak peek of the upcoming ‘The Hunger Games’. The clip was introduced by the movie’s protagonist played by actress Jennifer Lawrence.
The film version of author Suzanne Collins’ bestselling science fiction novel, ‘The Hunger Games‘ is the first book in the epic young adult novel trilogy set in a post-apocalyptic America. In the novel, a young heroine, Katniss Everdeen, must participate in televised battles that pit youths from 12 districts in an annual fight-to-the-death event called the Hunger Games.
The clip doesn’t give a lot of clues about the film, but it does showcase the young heroine of the film Katniss Everdeen.
The first novel was released in 2008 with its sequel, ‘Catching Fire’, released in 2009 and the final novel in the trilogy, ‘Mockingjay’, being released in 2010.
With a budget estimated to be $60 million and directed by Gary Ross (‘Pleasantville’, ‘Seabiscuit’), the film stars Jennifer Lawrence (‘X-Men: First Class’), Josh Hutcherson (‘Justice League’, ‘Zathura: A Space Adventure’), ELizabeth Banks (‘Spider-Man’), Liam Hemsworth (‘Knowing’), Woody Harrelson (‘2012′,’Zombieland’), Stanley Tucci (‘Captain America: The First Avenger’), Donald Sutherland (‘Aurora Borealis’, ‘Frankenstein’), and Lenny Kravitz (‘Precious’)
‘The Hunger Games’ will debut in theaters on March 23, 2012.
