During HBO’s summer Television Critics’ Association presentation today, ‘True Blood’ showrunner Alan Ball announced that he’s just signed a deal for another year on the series according to the Hollywood Reporter. Since HBO has signed the producer for another year and barring a ratings catastrophe with ‘True Blood’, it seems the odds are very good HBO will be announcing a 5th season pick up soon.

Ball had this to say,“there will be an end for me at some point but I just closed a deal to do another season.I don’t have any desire to leave because I’m having more fun than I ever had in my life.”

He also said that this is an exclusive deal with HBO and that he has a couple of other pilots also in development there. Ball added that “we’re creating new characters for Season 5″ including “how a vampire is made.”

Though the hit series is currently airing its fourth season on HBO, the network has not officially announced ‘True Blood’s renewal for a 5th season.
