As we muggles round the corner toward the end of ‘Harry Potter’, the franchise continues to shatter records.

What started with a book in 1999, has grown into arguably the biggest media franchise of all time. The only potential competition might be ‘Batman’, ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Star Trek’. Check out Amy’s ‘Harry Potter’ From The Beginning.

Estimates puts the franchise’s overall revenue at around $21 billion including books, movies, video games, television rights and licensed merchandise including theme park rides.

Now with the last film hitting theaters, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II’, its thursday night midnight showings in the US took in $43.5 million with international coming in at $82.5 million for a worldwide ticket sales of $126 million before the weekend has barely started.

The films 1.5 day take is already more than a large number of films will ever see. While it continues to break its own records as well as others, the film does have a chance of breaking one record. That record is ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’s $72 million single day opening record.

You can do it Harry Potter. And so can Hermoine.
