Genre films took the top five spots and 7 of the top 10 spots this weekend at the box office.
New entry ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ took the top spot with $36 million with the Johnny Depp starrer ‘Rango’ dropping one spot from last weekend for second with $23 million. Also in its first weekend was a new scarier version of the classic tale ‘Red Riding Hood’ placing third with $14.1 million.
The Philip K. Dick based ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ took in an additional $11.5 million for fourth place in its second weekend and brought its domestic gross to $38.5 million. The Disney animated film, ‘Mars Needs Moms’ placed a dismal fifth for its debut bringing in just $6.9 million for the reportedly $150 million budgeted film.
