Chris Pratt Guardians Of The Galaxy

With the fate of MCU now riding on the events that will occur during ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ a lot of fans are starting to look toward the future of the franchise, and whether or not some of their beloved characters will be returning to their own stories following latest ‘Avengers’ movie. The biggest question, of course, involves the fate of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and not only because all of them (minus Rocket and Nebula) were wiped out in the snap. With Disney firing James Gunn and halting production on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3,’ the future has not looked bright for the beloved franchise for quite some time now, with rumors even coming out last year that the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ might be changed to conclude the Guardians story early in the MCU (rumors that have since been proven to be untrue). Still, there has not been a lot of positive news about the future of the Guardians, until recently when star Chris Pratt was out promoting the ‘Lego Movie 2.’

When asked by Marc Malkin of Variety whether there will be another ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ film sans James Gunn, Pratt replied:

“I promise there’ll be a third movie, I don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like, but I know everyone on board is just eager to give the fans what they want and wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way.”

Which is excellent news for the fans and everyone else involved, especially if they were worried that the cast might not want to return after Disney did not respond to their signed petition to bring James Gunn back to the franchise. Who they will find that will be able to replace Gunn is anyone’s guess, and whether or not the film could possibly hope to stand up to the scrutiny of the fans is highly unlikely, but at least we will see the conclusion of the “trilogy” as Pratt put it, and hopefully get some closure to these characters, who have had quite a wild ride both on and off-screen since they first premiered in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Volume 1.

What are your thoughts on a third film without James Gunn? Would you rather they had just killed off the characters in ‘Endgame?’ Or do you still think they can pull it off without Gunn’s vision? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!
