It is hard to take anything we hear about future DC films with a grain of salt these days when even movies we thought were confirmed can get canceled, so make what you will about this rumor that a ‘Birds of Prey‘ and ‘Gotham City Sirens‘ crossover movie is in the works at Warner Bros.
Neither of these two female-driven movies is anywhere near being released, and yet it looks like the characters from both might be on a collision course!
The news came in a footnote in a THR article in about the Batman franchise that these two were going to have a major crossover film event:
“… And with Birds of Prey rumored to lead to a trilogy comprised of Gotham City Sirens and Birds vs. Sirens features, Catwoman certainly won’t be kept off screen for long.”
For those unfamiliar with the projects, the ‘Birds of Prey’ comic includes Batgirl, Huntress, and Black Canary teaming up while ‘Gotham City Sirens’ is rumored to have Catwoman and Poison Ivy teaming up. With Harley Quinn rumored to be in a trilogy of films being in development, it could very well mean that Margot Robbie is set to be in all three of these. This could easily see her following her comic book counterpart of being on both sides of the law and fleshing out her character by making her decide what kind of hero or villain she wants to end up being.
With the ‘Birds of Prey’ movie having the subtitle of “And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn” it sounds like Jared Leto’s Joker will likely also be involved to some extent.
