captain marvel nick fury

While we know that Nick Fury’s origin dates back decades in Marvel Comics, we’ve just learned that ‘Captain Marvel‘ will be the official introduction to Fury’s cinematic origin story as the master spy who will one day run S.H.I.E.L.D.

We’ve seen hints at Fury’s past in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ but Brie Larson has confirmed that her upcoming origin movie will also be what puts Fury on the path to greatness. I’m guessing that it will also explain what happened to his eye.

Larson shared this detail at the 2018 Comic-Con Experience in Brazil when asked about their relationship in the film where the actress stated:

“It’s actually a Nick Fury origin story as well, as he doesn’t have the eye patch. That’s a very interesting element, isn’t it? You know, they become buddies, and I think seeing that dynamic, it’s a more playful side of Fury. It’s before all of these other things have happened, and I think getting to be scene partners with Sam while he got to go back after all of these years of playing this character and basically build this first foundation was just such a treat. I felt like I was part of history.”

The trailers have not only shown us a softer side to Nick Fury, but we’ve also seen that Samuel L. Jackson gets to have both of his eyes in the film — at least at the start!

Are you looking forward to finally learning what made Nick Fury into being the greatest spy on Earth in the MCU? Do you think whatever happened to his eye will be shown in ‘Captain Marvel’? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

‘Captain Marvel’ will be flying Higher, Further, Faster onto the big screen on March 8th, 2019!
