Yo Joe! The G.I. Joe Snake Eyes Movie May Have Found A Director

The live-action “G.I. Joe” movies may not have found quite the audience or built out the franchise as much as the “Transformers” have so far, but that doesn’t mean Paramount Pictures is done with them quite yet. We’ve known for a while that the studio’s next plan was to bring us a Snake Eyes solo movie which might or might not reboot the series and now it looks like they may have found a director. This shadow assassin has always been a fan favorite for those who love the cartoons, comics, and toys so it is no surprise that if a solo movie is going to be made it would put the focus on this member of the Arashikage Clan.

While not yet set in stone, it has been discovered that Robert Schwentke (‘R.I.P.D.’,’RED’) is in talks to tackle this film. The director is no stranger to franchises having tackled both ‘Insurgent‘ and ‘Allegiant‘ of the “Divergent” series, and this could lead one to imagine that he is being courted for multiple movies if this one resonates with audiences.

Whoever directs this ‘Snake Eyes’ film will be working off a script by Evan Spiliotopoulos (‘Beauty and the Beast’,’The Huntsman: Winter’s War’). Brian Goldner, Chief Executive Officer of Hasbro, on board as a producer.

It is unclear if this will be an origin story of the character, continue the version played by Ray Park in the previous live-action films, or be an entirely new take on this silent ninja warrior.

Are you looking forward to a “Snake Eyes” film? Do you believe that this will be used as a way to do a reboot of the “G.I. Joe” movies or will this be a true spinoff from the originals? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
