When Fox’s Batman prequel series returns it’ll be “No Man’s Land” in ‘Gotham’ as the criminals run the city and the latest promo is checking in on what is going on after 45 days of chaos in the city. What is interesting about this outing is that the focus isn’t put on Joker or The Riddler or Penguin or even Bane as you might expect. No, this new teaser has Jonathan Crane’s Scarecrow front and center, and the character isn’t one who has been overly mentioned in the previews of the upcoming season so far.

While Crane is unlikely to be a significant player with everything else slated to go on, that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to affect the city with the villain having followers in tow here. While David W. Thompson’s take on the character was prominent in the last half of Season 4, he hasn’t been a focus of almost any of the promotional material so far.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that these are some visuals that are a vast improvement over how we’ve seen the character so far. We all know how well change goes over with comic fans, but it isn’t like this Batman prequel hasn’t been willing to play fast and loose with the source material.

Are you excited for the return of ‘Gotham’ for the fifth and final season? What did you think of the latest teaser for the upcoming episodes? Do you think that Scarecrow’s new look is exactly how you’d want the character to be? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

With Gotham on the brink of total anarchy and cut off from the outside world, only Jim Gordon, Bruce Wayne and a handful of heroes remain behind to retake the city. Inspired by the “No Man’s Land” arc from the comics, villains including Penguin, the Riddler, the Sirens and Jeremiah have taken claim on various regions of the city. Will order be restored, or will chaos reign in Gotham?

‘Gotham’ returns to Fox for its fifth and final season on January 3rd, 2019!
